Competence of Certification Body Personnel

One of the resource requirement of certification body (CB) is Competence of personnel. ISO/IEC 17021-1: 2015 defines competence as “ability to apply knowledge and skills to achieve intended results. CB should ensure that its personnel have appropriate knowledge and skills relevant to the types of management systems, such as, QMS, EMS, ISMS, and geographic areas in which CB operates.

Competence criteria is determined for personnel a) involved in management and performance of audits and other certification activities, b) with regard to requirements of each type of management system standard, c) for each technical area, and d) for each function in certification process.
